Stimulus Check Update: Instant payment worth up to $1000, to be sent within six days – Washington Examiner

New Mexico Ttaxpayers have just under a week before they receive a tax refund worth up to $1,000.

These rebates are provided to New Mexico residents who file their 2021 taxes and are worth $500 for single filers or $1,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly. These payments are made through direct deposits or through paper checks. Direct deposits will be sent to bank accounts beginning June 16, and paper checks will be issued by the end of June, according to KOAT 7.

“Prices for basic necessities remain high across the country,” Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) said in a statement. “Our state is in a fantastic financial position today and it is important to me that the families of New Mexico share in that success.”

Taxpayers who have not yet submitted their returns for 2021 have until May 31, 2024 to do so.

If a taxpayer has moved to a different address after filing a 2021 tax return, the person can update the address through the self-service Taxpayer Access Point portal in the state’s tax and revenue department. Alternatively, the taxpayer can also file a change of address form with the state’s tax and income department.
