Stimulus Check Update: Instant payment worth up to $1000, to be sent within nine days – Washington Examiner

Tthere are only nine days left before eligible New Mexico taxpayers start receiving a tax credit worth up to $1,000 this month.
These rebates are provided to New Mexico residents who file their 2021 taxes and are worth $500 for single filers or $1,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly. These payments will be made through direct deposits or paper checks, with direct deposits sent to bank accounts starting June 16 and paper checks issued by the end of June, according to KOAT 7.

“Prices for basic necessities remain high across the country,” Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) said in a statement. “Our state is in a fantastic financial position today and it is important to me that the families of New Mexico share in that success.”
If a taxpayer has moved to a different address after filing a 2021 tax return, the person can update the address through the self-service Taxpayer Access Point portal in the state’s tax and income department. Alternatively, the taxpayer can also file a change of address form with the state’s tax and income department.
Taxpayers who have not yet filed their 2021 returns have until May 31, 2024 to do so.

Taxpayers who have changed their bank information since filing their 2021 tax returns will receive their discount via check in the mail.
