Christopher Nolan thinks Robert Downey Jr. if Iron Man is the best casting choice in film history – India Today

The movie has an amazing star cast of the likes of Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr and many others. In a recent interview, Nolan Downey praised and applauded his casting as Iron Man.

Robert Downey Jr. will be seen on the silver screen for the first time in three years. He will make his long-awaited comeback in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ as Lewis Strauss. The ‘Iron Man’ recently proclaimed that Oppenheimer is the best film he has ever starred in. Downey Jr. is best known to most people for his role as Iron Man/Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview with ‘Happy, Sad, Confused’ Josh Horowitz, Nolan referred to the MCU’s choice of Downey Jr as “one of the biggest casting decisions in movie history.”

“One of the best casting choices in movie history, in my opinion, was when [Jon] Favreau had the vision of casting him as Iron Man. And you examine what happened and what direction everything has taken because of it. And I believe Jon knew exactly how great an actor he was and how great a promise Downey had. Then the pull of a movie star, that amazing magnetism, comes into the picture,” Nolan said.

Nolan also shared what was best about working with Robert. The director said, “It was that you could go up to him and say, ‘Okay, put aside your charisma and movie star fantasies for a second and let yourself get engrossed in this real life character who’s so nuanced and plays such a great role in Oppenheimer’s story. And I think a lot of his fan base will be pretty shocked to see him kind of come back to that genius as an actor, just find the truth in another human being and express it, and the things that he accomplishes in the film. Being able to completely turn around and expand on itself in a way that many people haven’t seen in someone who has grown as big as a movie star is pretty cool.

ABOUT ‘OPPENHEIMER’
Oppenheimer is a 2023 epic biographical thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J Sherwin about J Robert Oppenheimer, called the father of the atomic bomb. It stars Cillian Murphy in the titular role.
