Various government agencies in the United States continue to send checks or tax refunds to help their residents. Here are the states sending money in June and how to request payments over $1,000.

California
Residents of Los Angeles County, California may be eligible monthly payments of $1,000 for two years thanks to a Guaranteed Income Program. These are the entry requirements:
- Be a resident of Los Angeles County
- At least 21 years old, but under 24 as of September 1, 2023
- Been in foster care until the age of 18
- Have an income equal to or less than 100% of the area median income for a household of one person or 120% for a household of two or more.
- Being affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications can be submitted electronically through the Breathe Program website from June 20 to July 3. Only 200 people are elected.

North Carolina
Residents of the City of Greensboro, North Carolina, may be eligible for the Low Income Homeowner Assistance Program. If you qualify, your household will receive one check the difference between the municipal property taxes paid in 2021 and what was paid in tax year 2022.
The application deadline for this program is June 15. More information about the admission requirements can be found on the program website.
Colorado
Each year, the city of Boulder, Colorado gives rebates to help lower-income community members pay for their groceries. This year, refunds are $99 for individuals and $302 for families.
To qualify, applicants must apply and meet financial eligibility guidelines (income less than $43,900 for individual applicants and up to $62,700 for a family), plus have lived in Boulder for the entire 2022 calendar year and:
- Be 62 years or older throughout calendar year 2022
- Being a person with a disability
- A family with children under the age of 18 in the household throughout the calendar year 2022
The application period started on March 1. Application forms must be received or stamped by June 30. Registration and more information about the program can be found on the city’s website.
The state of Colorado has the OZB deduction/rent/heating discount (PTC). These are the entry requirements:
- Lived in Colorado from January 1 to December 31, 2022
- Have an income of less than $16,925 for single taxpayers and $22,858 for married couples filing jointly.
- Be 65 or older as of December 31, 2022, have one surviving spouse age 58 or older, and be a disabled person of any age eligible to receive full benefits from January 1 through December 31, 2022 from a public or private plan or source exclusively based on your disability.
- You have paid property taxes, rent or heating bills
- Not be claimed as a dependent
The refund amount can be up to $1,044 per year for applicants and if you enroll in 2023, you could receive a refundable tax credit of up to $1,000. For more information and to check the payment schedule, visit the program’s web portal.
Massachusetts
Taxpayers are eligible to receive a refund of approximately 14% of their state tax due. People who submit their 2021 tax return before September 15, 2023 will receive their payment one month after the tax return. If you filed your tax return in May, you will receive your payment in June.
New Mexico
State residents will receive a refund of $500 for single applicants and $1,000 for joint applicants. Payments will be sent midway through this month to eligible residents who have filed their income tax returns. 2021. Taxpayers have until May 31, 2024 to file a return and get their money back.
Pennsylvania
The state has the Rental/Property Tax Refund Program, which benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers over 50 years of age; and people with disabilities over the age of 18.
The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 a year for renters, not including half of Social Security income. The maximum standard discount is $650, but additional discounts for qualified homeowners can increase discounts to $975.
Applications for the program will be accepted until June 30.
