  1. On Friday, a camp leader was attacked by a bobcat at Selden Neck State Park in nearby Lyme. Authorities report that the victim was attacked by the big cat while sleeping in a hammock. The leader and two other employees killed the bobcat, which was later confirmed to have tested positive for rabies; all three individuals received treatment for minor injuries. (WABC-TV)
  2. Multiple municipalities a short drive from The Haddams-Killingworth area have postponed their Independence Day fireworks displays. due to anticipated storms. Norwalk rescheduled its fireworks for July 5, while Madison, Meriden, and Naugatuck postponed them to July 7; Hartford Bonanza will take place on July 8, and Waterbury’s Food Trucks and Fireworks Extravaganza will be rescheduled for July 9. As of yesterday (Sunday July 2) evening, no cancellations have been announced for the following fireworks displays near The Haddams-Killingworth. (wtnh.com)
  3. The Killingworth Library Association invites the community to a Poetry and Meditation session on Friday, July 7 at 6:30 pm. The event will be led by Someday Farm’s Stephen Watson and will take place under the marquee in the back garden. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to register online.
